Huawei Mate Xs is official: specs and price of the most expensive new foldable ever
It’s finally official: Huawei officially unveiled its new foldable, namely Mate XS, a revised and corrected version of the previous Mate X model, launched last year.
The device does not present any particular upheaval from a design point of view; on the contrary, it broadly takes up every aspect of it. Thus, the 8-inch display (2480 x 2200 pixels), with a OLED panel flexible, made with A two-layer polymer structure, joined together with a special transparent adhesive.
This solution has the dual purpose of improving the strength of the smartphone. As for the folding, the manufacturer has adopted a reinforced hinge than the one already seen at work on Mate X’s.
The most significant improvements, however, are found under the shell: the old processor has been replaced by the new SoC Kirin 990 5G, the same one already adopted by the Mate 30 Pro, such as to ensure top-notch performance, with support for the next-generation 5G network. Specifically, the smartphone boasts a Dual-SIM slot that can be adopted in both 5G+4G modes.
Accompanying the processor we have 8 Gb RAM memory and internal storage space from 512GB. The battery, on the other hand, is from 4.500 mAh and integrates SuperCharge technology with support for fast charging 55W.
On the camera side, we find four sensors: a main one from 40 MegaPixel SuperSensing Camera with f/1.8 aperture optics, an Ultra Wide by 16 MegaPixels with f/2.2 aperture optics, a tele from 8 MegaPixels With OIS and f/2.4 aperture optics and a Sensor ToF.
Huawei Mate XS will also, unfortunately, be on the list of Huawei-branded smartphones not to enjoy Google Apps. Despite the presence of customized Android 10 with interface EMUI 10.0.1 on board, the company will have to do without Google’s support because of the ban.
All this great wonder technology obviously comes at a price. Huawei Mate XS will in fact soon be available on the European market (including Italy) at the modest price of as much as 2.599 euros. This is the highest price ever for a foldable smartphone.
