In Padua, the pirma Academy of Cyber Security

While digitization has led to smarter work management, on the other hand, businesses and government agencies are now Increasingly exposed to the risk of cyber incursions of web pirates. Able to breach companies’ systems, stealing data, damaging software and related production processes. For this Italy’s first Cyber Security Academy is born in Padua, Italy.

In Padua, Italy’s first Cyber Security Academy

L’Italian academy of cybersecurity Is the result of a project that started 2 years ago And now arrived at an official formalization. Several are the key players:

  • Fòrema, Assindustria Venetocentro training entity
  • the Padua-based information technology company Corvallis
  • Partners YOROI and Swascan, who are all part of the Italian cyber security hub, Tinexta Cyber.

The academy will be based at Corvallis in Padua, Italy, and will train “good hackers” who can counter the incursions of “bad” ones. Protecting the information systems of companies and government agencies.

The cybersecurity training courses

The high-level cybersecurity training course currently sees the participation of 25 cybersecurity technicians. All young people under the age of 30 who have been involved full-time in IT security and technology infrastructure for 2 years, attending the first residential ITS Information Technology course. Graduated last July, they will then shortly complete their training, through the last step: a Summer School by which they will become “Cyber-security Managers”.

The content of this starting and 120-hour specialization course is very specific. Implementation of cyber prevention systems to counter attacks, tools to recognize and monitor an attack. As well as law enforcement and data protection tools.

Learners will learn how to perform so-called “penetration tests”. That is, hyperspecialized tests to understand the actual validity and security of the cyber protection systems already adopted by a company. Possibly studying different strategies for improving protections.

Goal: protect systems and data from incursions by “bad hackers”.

The New Cyber Security Managers

The course will conclude at the end of September. Young people who participated in the first ITS (Istituto Tecnico Superiore di Alta Formazione) have all already been hired on permanent contracts at companies in the sector. The course was established at a company (Corvallis) following the German digital-industrial Fachschule model.
