Lenovo IdeaPad S340: big but light. Our review
In the field of PCs, there is no doubt that Lenovo is one of the brands that guarantees more innovaszione. And we got confirmation of this in our test of an IdeaPad S340 in the 15 API version. That is, with a 15-inch screen.6 inches with ultra-narrow bezels and AMD Ryzen 5 processor. And from AMD is also the Radeon Vega 8 graphics card. A great laptop, especially for being thin and handy.
In addition to its features.
Lenovo IdeaPad S340 Review
Big screen and speed
IdeaPad S340 models have two size variants, namely 14- or 15-inch versions. And also two processor options, as the IWL-branded ones mount Intel. We have, as mentioned, tried those with Ryzen.
And the result is still to have a superfast device with a really respectable display.
Indeed, the screen is bright and well defined: it is a 1920×1080 resolution with 60 Hz refresh rate. And all this in a small body size for the kind of product. In fact, the width is 35.8 centimeters and the thickness is 1.79.
Considering that the weight also starts at 1.79 pounds, the result in short is little bulk and light weight. Without losing quality.
The other features
The IdeaPad S340 variants with AMD Ryzen processors have much the same features as those running Intel, with only the battery life being claimed to be slightly lower. Depending on the battery fitted you can get up to 6 or 8 hours, a couple less than otherwise accessorized models. Otherwise everything travels, and in first class.
Including presence of voice assistants such as Cortana and Alexa that allow you to be able to work with your voice as well (the screen, however, is not touch).
The audio is also excellent, with the presence of two 2x2W Dolby speakers. The webcam has 720p HD definition with Privacy Shutter microphone. And it features a 4-in-1 card reader, 802 WiFi.11ac, the Bluetooth 4 connection.2, the HDMI input, the audio jack, two USB 3 ports.0 (a Sleep&Charge) and a USB 3.1 Type-C.
The keyboard is backlit, but only in the 15-inch versions is there room for a numeric keypad.
Models and price
IdeaPad models can go up to 12 Gb of Ram (ours under test had 8) and up to as much as 2 Tb of memory with a hard drive and up to 512 with SSD. Without exaggerating however you can get a very good computer at a good price, as the list starts at 599 euros. It comes preloaded with McAfee LiveSafe software (free trial version), Lenovo Vantage, Microsoft Office Centennial (trial version), Lenovo App Explorer, LinkedIn, Lenovo Utility.
Judgement
Put to the test IdeaPad S340 proved to be very fast and very enjoyable from a graphics standpoint. In short, a great pc especially that has the right mix of work and profession. Usually computers like this are kept on the table, but in any case it is nimble to carry around. AMD processor doesn’t suffer comparison with Intel ones, certainly the battery factor plays a bit to its disadvantage.
But in any case Lenovo with this model still demonstrates the’high level of its products.
